Being someone of the 90s as I was growing up, there are a few storybooks I remember that I had always enjoyed back then. Where the Wild Things Are (which I plan on seeing) is one of those, and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs is another one, which I got to see tonight. Granted, I went in there not expecting a whole lot, but the key thing is that I was curious. It was a childhood favorite, so it held some nostalgic value for me, for starters. I really only decided to see that because little sister and her boyfriend needed a ride to the theater, because they wanted to watch Paranormal Activity (end result from them - "It was stupid/retarded."). I don't take to horror very well at all, so I had mom buy me the ticket to CWACOM (since she was paying for everything tonight.) I missed the first ten minutes because sister delayed me, as two of her other friends needed me to be there so I could buy the Rated R tickets for them as well (with their own money, of course, which is why I was fine with that), but in addition to -that- wait, I wanted a drink, annnd the line was another ten-minute wait. I wasn't too thrilled, but upon having my large Pibb Extra, I was happy again, and ready to go. CWACOM was... interesting. Unlike sister and co. with their movie, I left the viewing area with a smile on my face. It was imaginative, took a children's book and made it interesting to watch, the animation was fluid and crazy, the voice acting was great, and the humor, as well as the overall presentation, was just... so over the top. I like over-the-top things like that. CWACOM did that, without treading into the 'annoying' territory. There were things that happened in the movie that 'made sense', and then there were things that just... made no sense, that cracked me up. (Like a random TV with legs running into a TV store after a man stole a set, only to 'loot' it by running out with the owner in tow instead.) The characters were endearing, the protagonist continually made me laugh, and the overall 'story' that they made out of this was just... interesting. I liked it! A lot, actually. The exaggerated nature of the entire thing really was reminiscent of, say, a Looney Tunes cartoon. The child in me was thrilled with the result. It was one of those films that just... left me feeling good, and happy. My movie experience tonight was easily a 4.5 out of 5 stars, if I were to rate it. Certainly was a much more desireable result than how Sister and Co. reacted to their pick. I hardly regret my choice at all. So, yeah! If you like the qualities and characteristics that I described here, then totally go check it out, if you haven't already. Even if the movie isn't -really- your cup of tea, I can guarentee at least a few chuckles, and a smile for sure. Current Mood: happy Current Music: Kryptonite - 3 Doors Down

Just wanted to give a quick shout-out to a really good artist, and an awesome person. cinda7 ! She's worked so hard on her schoolwork and whatnot throughout the entire semester, and still has energy for several art pieces throughout. Very dedicated, especially when it comes to traditional means of coloring. I admire her and her skills in this regard, and I'd just like to take a quick moment to direct folks to her gallery. cinda7.deviantart.com/Also, a link to a picture she has done for me, that took me on by surprise! And helped me climb out of the stagnant hole that had been my evening. Thank you again for this picture, Cinda! cinda7.deviantart.com/art/Kapukeku-124047879Those who read this journal, you ought to give her gallery a peek. Some very nice artwork here, ranging from cute and adorable, to sad and touching, to dark and interesting. Reccommendation! *thumbs up!* And now, I go to get breakfast, because my stomach's starting to kick me in the face now. -Tony Current Mood: chipper

So, it was night at some point... My sister and her dad were with me, taking us to store supercenter for some reason... And my idea was to first peruse through the electronics. For some reason, they lacked anything excessive, and only had a small booth filled with old titles and imports and the like. There wasn't anyone there to manage this particular station, so I just kind of went on my own... I found some cool things, but... nothing -really- caught my eye, save for one title I can't recall... In any case, this group of students, apparently from a high school band or something, were wandering the store, and.. upon seeing me, decided to shove me over a bit, and make stupid remarks about me and my videogames. ... they left, and I stood up, feeling rather grumpy... decided that it was a good time to order a slushie or something. I ordered on from another nearby stand, and then, taking note of the unsavory presence of the band students, told the vendor that I'd be back soon to get it, prolly about a half hour... and then left with stepdad, and sister, but not before I walked into the parking lot, and ended up being tripped by the swinging of a car door by those !@$%ing students from before. ... I threw my shoe at them, but I'm too much of a softy, so, just like I would have done so outside my dreamscape, I threw the shoe off-center a bit, and made it skim their car a little, not actually -striking- anything. ... They laughed at me. Of course. Sigh... We drove around for a bit, and I remember looking at my watch frequently... I had gotten a phone call after a while from the vendor, asking if I actually had plans on coming back for my drink. I told her I was, but it'd still be just a little bit... Eventually, I told stepdad to head back, and as we did so, we almost entered the wrong parking area and nearly hit a schoolbus... which is basically how I came to the conclusion that the group in question were band students. When we entered through another lot and parked, we made our way to the entrance, only to find... the students weren't gone, and they were, in fact, making good effort to keep up with me for some reason, not lose sight of me... stepdad got fed up and took me and little sister into an alternate route -- Namely, his way to work. We entered an elevator, which opened up to a flight of stairs inside of a very, very hi-tech part of the store. Possibly... the security area...? It was weird... We walked down a hallway or two, and then ended up in his workplace, which was apparently 50% Book Club (???), and 50% a floral delivery service (which actually makes sense -- he does that now for work). He left, while I continued to scan old chat logs to find the number for that damn slushie vendor... Had to let them know, for some reason, that I got holed up due to those damn students, and that I'd be a bit longer... But I couldn't find what I was looking for, and during repeated searchings... the book club did something that, apparently, was natural for them, and was the only hilarious part of this dream. The lot decided it was a damn good time to start doing Michael Jackson's 'Smooth Criminal', with the movements, the choreography, and everything. It was... a great song, that was repeated to the letter and beat in my dream, but... a very -stupid- reason for why it was there. Urgh. Aside from -that- random mess, I eventually became fed up, and told stepdad to walk me back down to the store from the security area. We went down another couple of hallways, little sister in tow, and entered the exact area that I needed to be in. It was rather handy... so, I'm trying to make my way back to the vendor, when suddenly, from around the corner of a clothes section, and from there, all the way down towards an exit of the store, someone suddenly yells "GET DOWN!!!", and promptly throws himself onto the floor. I freak out, grab my sister, and we both go down, hidden behind a display stand. Stepdad comes over on his knees shortly after, and we both listen... We both look at eachother, realizing that... there's no gun fire... I leave him with sister, and I scootch along on my knees towards another stand to get a look in the direction of the yells from before... ... I flatstare. There are... appliances moving on their own. Apparently, other people are being attacked by said appliances from further out, because I can definitely hear screaming. At this point, given the speed of the vacuums and things that I'm seeing move away from me, I figure that there's really no need for any kind of crawling... As I stand up though, I can see movement in the corner of my eye, and then whatever is moving... suddenly -lurches- towards me. I side-step this attack, and watch as a fucking -ZOMBIE- drops onto the floor, moaning as it tries to get back up. It appears to be the vendor from before, and... frankly, I don't waste ANY time at all, I grab sister and stepdad, and we all go back to the security halls... He tosses me into a hotel room (???) at some point, and tells me to wait there until everything blows over. As I lock the door, someone immediately starts knocking and clawing at the door for whatever reason... But I ignore it, and begin perusing through the items in the hotel room. TV... old school games (such as one labeled "Crazy Fox 2", which is weird, because that doesn't exist at -all- o_O), and two beds, one of which is covered with clothes and mess already. ... I kiiinda realized it, then, that... someone else was here, too, and that's when I opened the hotel room, and discovered a very pissed off RL acquaintence of mine... I told him that, given the situation, I wasn't aware that he was there, and so he kinda let it pass, and started bitching about things like his laptop not working right or anything (Yeah, I don't really like the guy much, not even in my -dreams-..), and after a while, I get curious... I unlock the hotel door, and open it to take a peek... A gentleman in a suit with a mustache and goatee is climbing down a stairwell further down the hallway, and as he reaches the foot of the stairs, he raises both arms, each with a gun in hand, pointing to his left and right. He fires the weapons repeatedly, and zombies of all sorts fall at his feet, with others lumbering into view... I slam the door shut, lock it, and then place my back against it, breathing hard. I look over to my "roommate", and, wide-eyed as -HELL-, I tell him; "Matt. .... Zombies. ... Fucking -Zombies-." He blankstares, before he grins, and kinda goes "Zombies? Alriiiight..." There's a pause, and his grin falters, as he goes, "... Well, fuck." I remember looking into the peephole of the door, wondering where the hell my stepdad and sister got to, when I woke up, and promptly pounced my roommate looking for some kind of not-scary consoling of some kind. God... janusd , I don't know how the hell you put up with ENTIRE dreams of zombie attacks -- I can't even tolerate a few -moments- of it before I completely freak out and wake myself up! My art, what I need to do, some more urgent than others. - Sketchwork of Janus, Dimitri, and myself lounging on a couch, watching a movie - Secret Birthday Fanda Arts (Perhaps even a bonus picture to make up for missing it..) - Secret Birthday arts for another friend of mine... - Cover Page for a comic I plan on doing... - Another cover page for something else I came up with today (Reaper. Mustn't forget that key word, there.) - Arts to repay back folks who had helped me get out of a spur of debt a couple of months ago. I still haven't forgotten, those who helped! - More Dimitri arts. He needs 'em. And I had an idea somewheres... - And per suggestion of janusd , Dimichu and Meowthy. (... Meowony? Toneowth? Hmm..) - Commission work from ages ago that I need to finish. Since I'll be getting a new tablet soon and all around Christmas... These items will hopefully be crossed off by the letter, eventually. I need to get to work and drawdrawdrawdraw... But it's definitely left its fair share of destruction throughout my home state. I'm fine. Nothing happened to me. I went to a relatives house, lost power from the storm Saturday at about 12 AM, and went through another day and a half of hot, humid, disgusting powerless conditions. But now I've gone to another relative's house that -has- power, so that's fine. However, as minimal as this was, my house -does-, reportedly, have a hole in the roof, over the living room. Everyone's fine, though, so that's good. But... I -am- concerned for my CPU tower. Lotsa information and memories stored on that. I moved it to higher elevation in my room, but with that hole in our roof... hopefully nothing got on it through a leak or something. The roof'll need replacing, more than likely... And I can't return home for a while, at the most, a week... Even though classes resume on Wednesday. Suck. Ike, I hate you. Not just for the minor crap you did to -me-, but for the major losses and difficulties being experienced throughout the entire southeastern portion of my state. The next hurricane that comes through here will be punched in the mouth. Seriously. They -suck-. ._. And I don't wanna make it seem like I believe I'm going through the worst of this. I know and realize that there are millions of others who have it much worse throughout the aftermath of this storm, and I wish them the best to get through this. Current Mood: grumpy

Slight warning of language. <Caline> Sigh. <Caline> That run for errands was a fucking disaster. <Caline> I got everything wrong, pretty much. -_-; <Dannysaysnoo> What happen? <Caline> I was given a checkbook. Two checks. Debit card in case I couldn't use it. One for post office, other for groceries, including a box peanut breakfast bars and batteries. <FoxLeBlanc> Danny: The paint itself is the art. the texture, the viscosity, it's velocity, the motion and chaos that ensues when it hits the canvas. <FoxLeBlanc> Anyway. <Caline> I get little sister, go to the store. ... We can't check out the batteries with the groceries, because the video section had batteries in their computer inventory, while the regular grocery checkout lines did not, and vice versa for food items. * Brunhidden licks foxy from sneaky position <Caline> Instead of use the debit card, I forget I had it, and use -mine-. <Caline> Then, I find two different boxes of peanut butter-type bars. I look at the first one, figured it wasn't the right one, grabbed the other. <FoxLeBlanc> *Snaps elbow into Bruns sternum out of reflex* Gah! Don't DO that! <Caline> ... Turns out, the box I looked at first was correct. -_-; <Brunhidden> CHORK! <Caline> And apparently, I wasted too much time in the store, because we got to the post office... * Brunhidden collapses <FoxLeBlanc> Brun: Sorry... <Caline> and they closed. At 4:15. :| <Caline> What kind of fucking odd time is that. <Caline> Every other post office closes at 5. <Caline> So, fuck me on that. And so it goes, I totally botched the whole thing up, didn't get mom's things mailed off, got her the wrong bars, and on top of that, used my money when I didn't need to. <Caline> Oh, and to top it all off. <Caline> I was supposed to get six of the same kind of battery. * Raithah has joined #comicfrenzy <Caline> I got 4 of one, two of another, same size, to try to lessen the price a bit, and still get good batteries overall. <Caline> ... turns out that the device needing these couldn't mix the two kinds. <Caline> So I fucked -everything- up on that errand run. <FoxLeBlanc> Cal: Yea, verily, that sucketh. <Caline> And I'm pissed off, cranky, and otherwise depressed right now, -still- needing the pack-- <Caline> ... <Caline> turns out we're leaving -tomorrow-. <Caline> ... yeah. i'm ready to die now. <Caline> I fucking broke my back trying to pack a whole lot of shit, but we're not leaving tonight. -_- <Caline> So. Pissed. GRARGH!! >_<;; * Caline curls up in the corner, and -sulks-. >_< <Caline> Fucking... hate hurricanes. Part of this is fueled by how very -tense- my mom is right now, and how she and little sister are having issues with eachother, and how the aggravation can sometimes land on -me-, and I'm suffering just sitting in here, having to deal with this in silence, stewing over things, and just making myself very stressed out... I fucking hate hurricanes. Current Mood: infuriated
